Default Trying to remove stock headlight on 2022 street bob fxxbs

I am trying to replace my stock Harley daymaker headlight on my 2022 street bob with a new eagle lights gen III led headlight. My question for everyone is how do you get the stock headlight out of the bucket? The Harley dealer says it just falls out after you take the trim ring off. My doesn’t just fall out. It seems like it is secured on something inside. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

Thank you so much. I knew there was more to it. Even the Harley tech told me just take the ring off and the headlight will fall out. lol. I told him several times that it won’t just fall out. He insisted that’s all there was to it!

thanks. I actually switched the light out Friday night. I had to remove the whole headlight housing from the triple tree and then had to remove the inner bracket with 4 screws and the headlight ring from the bucket. The newer Harley’s the headlight doesn’t just fall out with removal of the headlight ring like the older bikes. A little more in depth

I'm curious...

What are you calling the "headlight ring"?

Per Andy from Sandy's parts pic above, are you calling the #2 Bezel a headlight ring, or the #9 retainer a headlight ring?

Thanks.. now I'm a little confused... I'm trying to understand what else you had to do to remove the headlight.

Per the parts pic, if you remove the retainer ring, the headlight should come out of the bucket....

Are you saying you had to remove the #4 isolator bracket before the headlight would come out? The screws look to mount from the rear, which would be inside the bucket, how would you remove that with the headlight still inside the bucket?

EDIT TO MY ABOVE POST....

Thanks for sharing your experience, I learned something new today...

OK, I looked up the parts specifically for a 2022 Street Bob... I answered my own question... I understand now what you had to do...

I see that on your model, the headlight rear bracket #16, is also the mount for the entire headlight assembly. That IS quite a change from the past headlight buckets Harley has used since my Shovelheads. All the prior bucket headlights I have dealt with have the mounting bracket as part of the bucket. On those, "remove the ring and the headlight falls out" would be good guidance. I now also see why the techs kept saying what they did.. That's what I would have said prior to seeing your actual online parts diagram.

Seems like a silly way to do it. I have to assume it was designed this way to save $$$$ somehow, but I don't understand the change. I wonder what year they first used that method? I'd like to see how the Service Manual says to change the bulb..

So I actually had to remove the headlight from the triple tree then I took the headlight ring off, which then allowed me to take the bucket off the backside then I had to remove the four screws from the back of the headlight from the isolator ring and then unhook the harness for the wiring is how I had to take it apart
