Ive posted this over in the Detailing forum, but thought maybe one of you fellow Trigliders may have some experience with this.
The wheels on my 2023 Triglide are non clear coated aluminum with flat black accents. After polishing the aluminum sections, I have stained the painted sections with the dried on Mothers aluminum polish. Any ideas on how to remove it? Washing with soap and water is not touching it. WD 40 made it look good till the next time that the wheels were washed and then the stains remain.
Yeah, I know, get them chromed or powder coated. I would love to, just not in the budget right now. 😆
Prevention is best: always use masking tape on painted or plastic areas.
If staining occurs on plastic or rubber, try a general-purpose cleaner or a mild degreaser. For painted surfaces, consult an automotive detailing expert, as some stains can be permanent.
I used the Harley Davidson polish and did not try to stay off the painted areas. No stain and the stuff worked very easy and looks new again. My trike began life in Idaho and the wheels were badly corroded but now look new again.
