07 Ultra Classic Smoke/Short on start-up after 30 seconds
Hello all,
I got my 07 Ultra Classic out this weekend and fired it up, oil pressure good, etc.. No problems until about 30 seconds in. Lots of smoke underneath and burnt wiring smell.
Shut it down immediately.
The location is on the right bottom side of the bike.
A connection has melted and apparently pulled out from a silver connection. See pics.
I've done a search and can't seem to tell if this is the oil pump, or something else. A little lost on what this wiring controlled or why it melted.
Please give insight so I can tell the shop exactly the issue for when I call to schedule.
Check for working rear brake light. That silver hexagon part (#72023-51E) is you stop switch. Part 9907 is the connection terminal. Here's some help for ya. Go to the MoCo website and click on PARTS. Next screen, top right OEM PARTS, click there. Enter your year and model. Then go hunting through all of the exploded diagrams with OEM part numbers.

My 09 Ultra had a Break switch recall, I wonder if yours does too.

Thank you so much. I actually no longer had rear brakes and was getting ready to take it to the shop to look at it. Pedal all the way down and no brakes.
