Default Harley Bar & Shield LED Flat Lens Turn Signals

I purchased these lights part # 68411 for the front of my 2012 Ultra Limited and also the red turn signals led as well for the rear of the bike. I installed the rears, along with the HD led brake part # 67800355 with the help of my neighbor. Ran into some problems with the front turn signals as I didn't have anything to de-pin the connecters for the wires and didn't want to cause any damage. So I had my local Indy do it and turned out very nicely. Lights were beautiful and really transformed the bike, much more visible during the day and night.

So here we are less that 18 months later and the one turn signal(amber) looks like a few of the " led " crystals or light have gone south. No water getting in, no cracks on cover lens. I've read lots of reviews that the quality of these lights isn't the greatest and don't hold up well past two or three years. The rears are still doing great(hope I didn't jinx it).

My questions is: Can I swap the fronts out to something like Custom Dynamics, or HogWorx or Eagle Lights ? Just not sure, as I thought the Custom Dynamics require the OEM light housing that holds the 1156 or 1157 incandescent bulb.
Also, if I have all Harley lights on rear and Custom Dynamics on front of bike, would it cause the hyper flash situation. ?

Many thanks fellas, appreciate your help !

I had those same HD LED turn signals on my old 2012 Ultra Limited, #68411-10 front & 68128-10 rear. They are a self-contained unit as you discovered. They replace not only the OEM bulb, but the entire OEM housing.

The Good- They have built-in resistors in the light, so you don't need a load equalizer to avoid the hyperflash when you convert to those LEDs.

The Bad- When they are installed, because the LED fixtures actually replace the OEM bulb housing/sockets, the wires need to be run and then added to the connecrtors. It involves pinning & de-pinning connectors. Not really hard, but intimidating if you have never done it before

If you want to go to the Custom Dynamics, you WILL need to go back to the OEM bulb housing and OEM bulb sockets. CD makes their LEDs easy to swap out with OEM incandescent bulbs, and so they have the 1157/1156 bayonets that fit into OEM sockets.

Hopefully, you saved your OEM housings/sockets. HD still sells them as a unit, #68766-94, but they are $80 each and will require de-pinning & pinning connectors again.

The CD LEDs don't have built-in resistors, so if replace your front LEDs with CD, you most likely will also have to ad a load equalizer to avoid the hyperflash. They are easy install, literally just plug & play under the seat at the rear light harness connector, but will be an additional cost.

There are a few NOS LED Flat Bar & Shield front turn signal kits for sale on eBay, but they are asking a pretty high price for them, $173.99, and you will need to do the de-pinning and pinning of a connector to replace your failed one.

I hope this info helps, and good luck with your repair....

I had those same turns front and rear on my '13 King. The LED started going out one-by-one as yours. I kept my OEM turn housings and placed them back on the bike and now have the CD LED turns. All plug-n-play and go into where the regular bulbs go. You will also need a load EQ.

I went with these CD Smart Triple Play for the load EQ. Also a plug-n-play unit. It's not only a load EQ, but makes your rear turn a run/brake/turn as well. It also has a strobe feature, so when you brake, you can have the brake lights flash a few times. I also went with CD rear brake lights. CD has a lifetime warranty. Lifetime, meaning until the company goes belly-up.

You can go with any brand LED but you will need that load EQ if you go front and rear LED. You will also need to use your OEM housings already mentioned, as they all plug into where the bulbs go. Here's my CD rears...
