Wink Peace and Quiet with an Evo!

You can't hear yourself think over in the Touring forum. There are over 300 of 'em would you believe? What on earth can they be all be going on about?!

Nice and quiet here in Evo land! Like closing the door on the rest of the world and settling down into a favourite armchair.

Cheers!

Sure it is!-- Although I will admit I have been known to "peek through the curtains" over there from time to time! Guess it's because I have a "bitzer"-- it's an EVO FLHT kitted out as a "poor mans Ultra".

Cheers,

Sometimes it gets a little slow in the Evo Classic Models section, guess there just are not enough "Evo" riders these days.

I also check out the other sections on various forums but on occasion get a little confused when they discuss what is a "real" Harley, or should you wave to scooter riders. It seems some are more concerned about their image as being a "Harley" rider rather than actually riding. However, some of those posts have taught me I do not belong in HOG so I did not renew my membership : my wife an I ride alone, don't attend events, don't belong to any local chapters, don't frequent the dealers and not interested in buying a new Harley - as they say, we do not belong in HOG.

I do like some of the touring section posts to find out what everybody is buying these days, the popular accessories. At work we have several catalogs, when I see a new Harley owner pick up the Jireh catalog I usually tell them they will find more interesting stuff in the Harley accessories catalog. On the other hand, the older evo & shovel head owners find more in the Jireh catalog.

I am not suggesting one group is better than another, just different. Originally I was planning on being a "New" Harley owner too, had everything ready with the pre-approved financing and plans to stop at the dealer on the upcoming Friday, when I ran across this old Ultra that I liked and had enough cash to pay for it without any financing - little did I know at the time I would become attached to it. At first we tried going to events, but found we were not enjoying ourselves, preferred to just ride. I think group rides look neat and there certainly is more safety traveling in a group, but we prefer riding alone, just my wife and me.

on edit: I stopped going to another site because the moderator emailed me that he deleted my post in a thread about Ultima engines because I included a link to this forum (as many of us have Ultima engines). I was told they do not want people going to competing sites. At first it did not bother me too much but when I went back to the thread there was a post that added nothing, just claimed the Ultima engine were not American and they were usually in pieces all over the shop floor. My post was to try to help the individual and it was deleted but the "Ultima is Junk" post was OK.

I like it here myself. I hang out here and in the "Florida Crew" section. IMO our evos are more user friendly for maintaining and tinkering on. Always helpful people here when you stump your toe.

Thanks fellow evo lovers,

Mike

I looked long and hard for my EVO. It's what I wanted and was willing to wait it out to find the right one. Now I'm trying to convince my wife that she wants and older EVO. She's stuck on shiny and new. She likes the nightster (EVO) and I'm cool w/ that but, she eventually wants a softail. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. lol Like they say...you gotta pick your battles.
