So I have a set of risers I bought for a 2001 Fatboy. I assume they will fit my 2000 Heritage. Got em from J&P 4-1/2 pullback rise. Should these give me about a 2" rise and 2" pullback? That's what I'm hoping for. As far as the install, im a novice. It looks like remove the two bolts under the trees, 4 bolts from the top clamp and the riser slides out. Anything I'm missing or should b concerned about doing this swap?

 

No need to be concerned, it is a pretty straightforward job. I recommend replacing the almost 15 year old rubber bushings with some polyurethane ones to keep things solid up top.

 

I did same to my 2002 Fatboy. You can use existing cables. Be sure to alternate when tightening the tree bolts AND clamp bolts to make sure bars are aligned when done. Btw, made a big difference in comfort when riding.

 

+1 on the Poly bushings...good opportunity to swap em out, you wont be sorry.

The bushings are split, half goes in the top, the other half in the bottom. Then there is a sleeve that slides through the middle of the halves. Chrome caps go on top and bottom, bolt up through from the bottom...

Yes. It is more a factor of time than miles. 15 year old rubber is not going to do the job like some new poly bushings will.

 

Since you are pulling the risers, you may as well go ahead and do the bushings...it will save you from having to do it later.

Kutter online has HD bushings for about $30 (or less, I do not remember what I paid for them).

 

Got my new poly bushings today from Dennis Kirk. Still pretty apprehensive about the install. Anyone have a link to a good video of the installation? Saw some on utube but none specific to my Heritage. Just a nervous newbie, lol. Thanks!
