Default fatboy windshield question

I am looking at a windshield on craigslist. Does anyone know if there is a difference in mounting a shield on a 2000 verse 2002 fatboy? Measurements in pictures look to be about a quarter inch off what my 2002 measures. I will measure the shield myself before I buy but I won't have the bike with me and I just didnt know if there was a difference in the two years. Any help would be much appreciated.

I went to look at it but the measurements were way off. Top to bottom bracket mounts on mine are 7 1/2" and the bracket on his shield was only 4 1-2". Width wise it matched at 13 1/2".

Are you sure the one you looked at was OEM?
Was it a detachable or solid mount?

Solid mount. Im guessing it used a different bracket piece that was not included. Anyone have sugestions on which shield to order? I will start searching the forum because I'm sure this has been covered many times.

Weird...I would think 2000-2005 would work.

I contacted two more people with shields and they are the same way as well. One even came off a 2002. Now I'm really confused. Am I measuring wrong? My mounts on both sides at 7 1/2" top to bottom. Every shield I have come across is about 4 1/2" top to bottom. Are my bracket points just different than everyone's? I will try to include a pic to show.

Here is an example of one of the shields I looked at. It came off the same year as my bike but mounts points are about 5" top to bottom. I just don't get it.

Hey Harley,
Not sure this will help but I have an '03 Fatboy and put a Nacelle & Fog Lamps on and the Fog Lamps are mounted to a separate bracket that mounts to the forks. That may be what you need.

I picked up a FB windshield off CL thinking it would fit my (FL front end) Deluxe, but it didn't. If you want to mess with shipping, I'll cut you a deal. The FB windshield came with a tapered shims for each side of the forks. THAT might be the piece you need.
