I had a hard time getting a pair of apes to fit just right with the trees and the style I like so I had a set custom made. that is really the best way to get exactly what you want and it isn't much more than the upper end bars.
Check out Road 6 customs, all made in the US and great craftsmanship! Actually just as good if not better than the RSD apes on my train, but they were on there when I got it....... Won't break the bank either. http://www.road6customs.com/
Try BR custom bars, he'll make a set of bars to your exact measurements - any bend. Here's his website: www.brcustomcycles.com
NO, not ANY bend and NO not to your EXACT measurements. Many of BR's offerings are limited when it comes to width. The horizontal bar that lays across the trees is a set length also. All you are "allowed" to request is rise and "to some extent" width.
AND you have to be willing to wait 4 to 6 months for them regardless of what you are told when you place the order.
If you can find 'em.. Khrome Werks makes/made a 18" ape in a 1.25" diameter that I put on my night train that was within mm's to the same width as the trees. The part number for the 18" Khrome Werks that I had was 50-262, but they may have been discontinued. Check out page 5 of the following link: http://www.jirehcycles.com/catalogpdf/Section%204.pdf
Otherwise, you can check out the 16" apes at this link: http://www.khromewerks.com/FAT-1-25-...1029-1065.html
FWIW, if you or anyone else questions quality... I have ridden these apes over some of the roughest potholes in the U.S. (Minnesota roads).. Including from Minneapolis to Austin, TX and back. Maybe this will be of some help - and in comparison to the $350 ape's out there... It might be of some consolation as well.
