07 models
have you got an 07 bike with more than 5000mls on it?any problems so far?also have you done a stage1,if so is everything running smoothly? cos i was told that 07's have been having problems and i might be better waiting to see if anything arises before i go ahead with a stage1 because it void my warranty, cos in the uk a stage1 is considered an "aftermarket part" therefore my warranty is out the window. thanks.
The problems go away with a Stage 1. They are too lean from the factory and run extremely hot. Get the Stage 1 done and it will run a whole lot better and cooler.

The first is that the early bikes ran hotter then hell because of a lean fuel condition. The factory has fixed it on all later production (bikes made after Oct,Nov) models and its a free 5 minute fix at the dealers for older ones. Take my word for it the update works. The bike runs anywhere up to 25 degree's cooler afterward.
The second is that some Softails can have the positive battery cable or terminal short out agains't the oil tank. When it does the oil lines from the tank to the engine get fried from the electrical overload. Its an easy fix, all you need to do is get a little more insulation material in front of that cable/terminal to keep the battery from touching and its fine.
The third is very rare but a couple of bikes have had thecast metal tranny dip stickbreak off, appently from vibration and falling into the gearslocking up everthing from the engine to the rearwheel on you. If you moving at 70+mph at the time I don't imagine it would bea whole lot of fun. I just measured mine, made a new one from a coat hanger and cut the old one off.
Overall I don't think anything is going to change and if your interested in a stage 1, I would see if the dealer will install it before you pick the bike up. According to Harley its 'supposed' to be covered by the warrenty if the dealer does it 'BEFORE' delivery. After you have the bike its an aftermarket upgrade, but not before. If they still won't go for it, just get the bike and enjoy. Next year they aren't going to be any cheaper and assuming they haven't outlawed the internal combustion engine between now and then, you'll have missed out on a years riding time.
5960 miles, Stage 1, Vance & Hines BSS and SERT. Only problem is the weather's been sucking big time. Need summer to get here cause spring just ain't working out.
