I have read a bunch of great information around here, and I was hoping for some help from ya'll.
I have 2006 Springer Classic, and I have a blastriding it. Howevre, I am looking at placing a detachable windshield to help out with some of my longer rides. I have looked at the Harley Detachable mounting kit hardware, I was wondering if anybody had some expereinces, good or bad, in installing this stuff. I was also wondering if anybody had any experience or pros and cons of non-Harley aftermarket stuff, like the sportechinc system. I am just trying to figure out which way I am going to go with this. Thanks.[sm=confused06.gif]
I have recently put a low profile detachable harley windshield on my 06 deluxe and it was very simple to install. Instructions are very easy to follow and requires an allen wrench and a couple of sockets. I would recommend the harley windshield, I have looked at a memphis shades shield and I didnt like the fit and finish.
I installed a Memphis Shades detachable on my 01 Fatboy and I couldn't be happier with it. One of the things I liked is the hardware they use . It looks good when the windshield is off the bike. I have also heard that the Harley windshields are thinner(don't know if it's true).
Ted
I have the Harley detachable windshield and it is built well. One thing that I like about it is when you remove it there are no brackets left on the bike. I have a standard and not sure how it mounts to a Springer though.
