Ya gotta love a guy moving forward with a plan. So good Luck. But I grew up in the San Diego area, and I never had anything done or bought in TJ that I expected to make it to it's one year anniversary. Nothing. I have no dog in this race, but if you could get high quality and cost effective chrome work done with any consistency, don't you think Sampson, V&H and others would be using that option? Do we know of any quality supplier using Mexican Chrome. Just my thoughts and opinions.

I have a friend that lives in Tijuana. She understands what I'm looking and can communicate with the platter. Right now, I think I will only send a sample to Mexico to gauge the quality. For now I will use a shop located in the Midwest that has a good rep.

I have heard a lot of good things about Mexican Chrome. I'm actually surprised.

You bring up a very good point! I think Samson, V&H and the others want to live up to the 100% Made in USA. I also want that.

Now, think about this... With the problems that Samson and V&H are having of late, and delivery issues of late... Maybe they are having their chrome in Mexico? Just a thought.. It would explain the issues that both companies are having.

Now, if that is true.. I would have an upper hand because I have someone in Mexico to inspect for me. I'm thinking way in the future when I still have to get my prototype made (hopefully in the next month). So, I'm not to concerned about having it chromed in Mexico.

Good question and one I have thought of. However, I'm not at the point in researching that just yet. I have read about lot of people crossing from San Diego to Tijuana to get stuff chrome for their lowriders. They never mention having to pay a tariff. But, its something I will have to think about down the road.
