Default What is it??

I took my kickstand off to have it powder coated on my 2008 Night Train.
When I got it back, I got it back on, but just next to the pivot hole, is a second one (screwdriver tip in pic to show where). A pin with slot in it about halfway down, and a bushing fits in the hole, but nothing holds it?
Kickstand works fine, but all things have a purpose.
I had a senior moment after leaving it apart for a while. Anybody know what it is?

For overseas models they use a jiffy stand sensor in that hole. This sensor warns the rider if the stand is down.

That's interesting. I did not know that.
But, I do know I removed it when I took the stand off my bike. I put it in the pile with the attachment parts when I pulled the kickstand.
If I set that pin and bushing in the hole, it fits perfectly, but nothing keeps it from sliding out, and falling to the ground.
Dang if I can figure that one out!

Any chance it was supposed to go in from the bottom?

There is nothing underneath. The pin would sit in the bushing by the adhesion of the grease, and fall out, probably on the first ride.
Think of the kickstand swivel in a "C" channel. with the pin going through the bottom, the stand, then the top. Next to it on the top of the "C" shape bracket, is the second pin hole. Of which the kickstand pin cannot aling to go through. That and the only second hole is in the top. The pin itself is about a third to half the depth of the mounting bracket, hanging in the air if it is flush at the top.
Does someone else have the same set up on their soft tail, and can take a look and see?
I feel pretty dumb I have not figured it out

Interesting, so essentially its a for a kill switch?, so if the stand is down, bike wont start? like most metrics?.
Are they all prewired or just the overseas models?, and do they have an indicator?

Here is an exploded view of the area. #25 being the sensor mount screw and #26-29 being the sensor and harness.

Thank you for the diagram!! I will download that dude.
But really, I have the pin. I know there is no harness/plug I removed.
However, as long as the kickstand works fine, and it seems to stay in place, no problem, I guess?

I have an 07 train and just removed the stand for powder coat.......I don't have that part on my bike.....The main bracket has that hole you pointed to with the screw driver but nothing else .
