Thumbs down HD 2002 Fatboy HELP!!!

Hey fellas, just joined this forum & thought you guys could help. Just purchased my first harley. 2002 HD Fatboy efi...had it for about a month now & yesterday when riding about 40 mph...the gas started spitting & throttle wasnt giving me anything...eventually the bike gave out like i ran out of gas...i could start the bike back up but it would eventually give out...& now its not starting up at all...im thinking it has something to do with the fuel pump cus when I start the ignition/run button the whine noise i usually hear is way more faint to the point i have to put my ear towards the bottom of the tank to hear a noise..any ideas or advice??? I think i heard a loud pop noise seconds before this all happened but idk for sure... I jus wanna get back out there & ride!!
Thanks

I would suspect your fuel pressure regulator housing has failed/cracked. This is not an uncommon issue, especially in bikes that have some years n them now...Trask makes a billet replacement housing for about twice the cost of OEM, it won't crack like the stock one does....To determine if this is the issue open up the top of the tank under the dash and use a flashlight to look down in the tank while you turn the ignition on. If you see gas spraying out all around the housing or see the housing is cracked it needs to be replaced. This is also a good time to replace the fuel filter while you are there. Again, this is all assuming this is your issue; but by your symptoms I would be surprised if this was not it....
