I have two buddies and they both have long pipes on their heritages. The sound awesome. I like the sound better than the sound of my Pythons but....IMHO they don't look as good without the bags on the bike.
does it have to be v&h? i have martin bros. pipes. they look cool and no one else in my town has them.
Did your Martin pipes turn blue?
yes they did. i should've had them internally ceramic coated for $100. i thought i'd save some $ and use a $30 kit of dyna kote but they started bluing after about 30 miles. about a year after i bought my pipes martin bros started making heat shields for them. they were easy to install and cover the pipes to where they are stepped from 1.75" to 2".
Ijust put V&H Big Shots Slash cut on mine. Really load but in a good way. Going down the road it mellows out. I used the V&H Powerpak as well & have now issues. If the tone is too much with your pipes they offer quieter baffles.
