I can only assume you have the stock 3.5" wheel on the rear. 180 width tire is too big.

Edit: I see you corrected yourself. So, is it a 180 or 150

Are you lowered I ask cuz when i slammed my bike the stock dunlop rubbed on the left side. I seen the dunlop had a ridge on sidewall of tire that hit the strut mount on the inside of fender. I put a metezler on the rear and no more rub

I have a 95 Fatboy, and I just put a 150 rear on my ride. It seemed to fit well, but the Metzler had a real big edge on the tire. I was speaking to a local mechanic here and he had suggested using a hand planer to simply remove a little material off the edge for some more clearance. I didn't need to try it, but was an interesting idea.

ok so its worse, i was hoping it may just wear the edge lip off and be good but its rubbing a pretty good groove into the tire. can anyone chime in on if the 150 is to much rear tire normally for an 05 Deluxe???? (seems to be for my Deluxe) Will i be good if i switch to the 140/90? It is only on one side seems my fender is slightly offset but even centered i think its a problem....

I don`t know if this is apples and oranges, but, my `97 softail custom was only able to accept a 140. A 150 would rub on belt guard, Harley had a kit to put a 150 on, with skinnier belt and offset parts, but was like $500 and then you still had to buy a 1 1/8" pulley. Too much money in my eyes for me.

Very common for fenders not to be centered on earlier models like ours. Mine was not centered and did not notice until I installed a 160 tire and it was rubbing. A 150 will fit no problem. Im running a 160 on a 4.25" rim. Not a deluxe, but same width fender. You need to loosen the strut bolts and pull the fender in the direction to make it centered. Pull either at under side, top of fender curve, by struts or from rear of fender for leverage. Mine took a few good yanks to get it centered. Measure at top of fender to tire side wall to verify it is centered. Tighten strut bolts and ride.

Kuma! Great info! So obvious yet I never thought of it.
This is what make a Forum great.
Thanks, Steve

You should be able to space the struts out slightly by adding a couple thick washers between the struts and the frame. I did this on my Blackline to center the fender on the tire. (I think I have OCD..like things to line up) You may need to double up and put two washers if you're that tight on the left side..may just give you the room you need and it won't be noticeable at a glance. Just make sure your strut bolts are still long enough to get enough bite when threaded back in.
