I just ordered my '08 Softail Custom; vivid black. I know, I know, how could you order an '08? They're not out yet. I am ordering through military sales which is authorized to place orders with the factory prior to the release of model year information. Basically, it gets me in line for my bike so that it is guaranteed to get to me on time when I return from Afghanistan in January. That's still a ways off, so I will be going crazy here while I wait for that golden time to arrive. My head positively swims when I think of how wonderful it will be to get home and ride that gorgeous bike down some lonely Kansas blue highways in the golden evening sunshine. Those of you who haven't felt what it is like to endure separation and hardship in the name of your country and then felt the bliss of returning home to the paradise you were fighting for will never know how this will feel. (I've been through it three times now.) As for you vets out there, you know what I am talking about...
First, thanks so much for serving all of us. You hear a lot of crap on the news but us regular folks really do appreciate you and know what you are doing is protecting all of us.
Second, congrats on the bike. I drove through Kansas a couple of months ago on I-70 and it's beautiful. You'll be in "hog heaven" on that new Custom.
When you get home, pm me here on the site and I'll send you a small box of cool Harley stuff I've accumulated over the years.
wow, i just ordered my softail custom 08 as well .......its going to be hard to wait fo it tho.
great mind think alike.
cheers mate
Man, will it ever be hard! I am pouring through every magazine, catalog, website I can find for more "eye candy" on my bike. Do you know of any good websites that have road tests, etc on the new custom? What color did you order it in? I am curious about '08 because it should be an anniversary year - 105th - and so should have a new paint scheme. I will be interested in seeing it but I am more inclined to go with the cheaper (and best looking in my opinion) vivid black since I will probably want something custom later on.

Thanks for the offer. I will definately take you up on that. BTW, great looking Deuce. I was sad to hear that it won't be back next year. I think it was the most bold expression of the softail concept yet. Your bike even makes it look good two-up, which I didn't think was possible!
I to would like to thank you for all you are doing to protect this great land of ours. My brother-in-law is in Iraq right now and should be returning home for a little R&R and the first request he makes is to pick him up at the airport on is bike so he can ride as soon as he gets of the plane.
