2003 Anniversary Heritage
Had service work done and the wrong plug was pulled, cracked the case when put back in. Will need to be pulled and replaced bumping to a 95 and so the case will match serial number wise. Long story....
Indy suggest the Reaper 574 while the bike is down anyway. Anybody have experience with similar set up?
Is it carb or efi? You will need fuel management also. Never heard about 574's. With 95", most have gone with tw26, se204 or tw37. Think about where you want your power band. For instance, 37's come on later then 26. Deck the heads a bit to get the ccp correct if you want the most out of it. Take your time, research AND dont reinvent the wheel. Do a build that is known to work with a combination of parts.
Or, throw 26's in and ride it.
Just read a little about 574's. Seems like those are for larger displacements then 95". Not a good idea imo. They require more compression otherwise your low end will suffer.
Are you looking at a high compression 95" build a daily reliable rider?
I found this info about the cams. KumaRide said it and I agree. On a stock, Stage1 motor I would go with Andrews 26's, S&S 509's or SE203's. The engines listed in their description are all stroker motors compared to the 88/95" and already have more bottom end grunt and better flowing heads then what you have.
Fueling 574 CAMS - Wicked power band for modified engines and an excellent bolt in for stock 96”, 103” & 110” engines. This is a great all around camshaft with solid low end performance and mind blowing mid and top end power. Extremely smooth cam lobe design creates a very smooth valve-train motion. Responds very well to modified cylinder heads, increased compression ratio, performance exhaust and intake systems. Performance valve springs are required on ’99-’04 engines and performance pushrods, lifters and clutch modifications are recommended. RPM 2,100 - 6,500
Bike is EFI with a Power Commander now...and I need a daily driver that's reliable.
Thinking the 574 won't be what I want but will inquire further. I do want it to pull more down low that anywhere else. The Andrews 26 looks like the one I would benefit from.
had my 26's since 09 and 15K,, now with 52K I am still happy with them. Not the biggest - baddest - fastest cams bolt-ins you can install but they are decent all around good cams that's easy on the engine and they have done what I wanted.
They make great low-mid TQ -- which is what I wanted, really good improvement from 2k through 5.2K (rpms) over stock cams
Plus the added TQ makes 6th gear usable from 60 mph and up. the engine just purrrs along at 2000 -2400 so easy and smooth for just putting around
also I'll add you oil temp will/should drop (10-15 degrees) and you fuel mileage should go up 2-4 mpg if you don't twist you hand more---lol..
