The Burnout Cycles kit is bolt-on (no need to disassemble the shocks) and runs about $100. You can get probably 2+" out of that. Just installing the kit lowered mine by about an inch. Then I had all the adjustment to come lower if I wanted.
id like to go 3" with some air ride shocks.....if i got air shocks is the compressor necessary or if i just get them set up good, i could just leave it...and i posted the question on another forum, the jp cycles form bc they have the shocks i want and this is what one of their staff members said....
as long as the bike is sitting still, 3 inches is fine. it's too much for use, though, you'll be dragging the bike and rubbing the tire, and could damage the bike or have an accident
Since you allready tossed the tail light I would just go for a new fender like you said that would rap around the rear wheel . If you did that you wouldnt have to lower it as much to get the look you want . (just my opinion)

I haven't rubbed anything other than the kickstand on the tar...I need to come up with a solution for that...otherwise it rides fine.
what about with my girlfriend on the back??? little over 100 pds.... and if you take a fast corner....leanin her over? will the frame hit...i went out and checked it out with a tape measure...i dont think id ever lean it over that far but...i dunno, i might just go 2" with air suspension
Whatever you decide you need to fab up something to fill that gap under your fender...I'd even put your stock taillight back and run two of them rather than leave it open like that.
