Default forward controls on a slim?????

ok don't shoot me yet lol, I am wondering if anyone has donne that. The reason why is on my old slim I felt not as comfy as you would thing with floor bords and one person suggested me to go forward control but it always scared me that it would kill the old school look of the bike same for me as wanting to put apes on it but liked the look of the cali bars and was scared of loosing the look again. I am looking at the new slim s and before I decide I would like to have some opinions on that forward control idea. Thx

i don't know that you would gain anything with forwards on a slim.. the brake is almost in the forward position as is... the only thing i think you would agin would be a different position for the shifter... i have had mid, boards, and forward controls and like the ability of being able to reposition my foot if need be without it coming off the pegs of the controls.... i like the boards best of all, and on our slim, taking the boards off i feel would ruin the look for me.... JMHO

well yes it's the reason I am really not sure I don't want to kill the look. For me tho the forward feel a bit more comfy just for the feet position not the reach I had many injuries/surgeries in both legs due to my extreme sport lifestyle lol. I though of maybe the kit to move the bords forward a bit too

There are a few guys around that have done it and everyone that I have talked to that's done it, loves it. Plus, it gives you quite a bit more ground clearance in the curves. I find myself stretched out all the time anyways, so I'm thinking it's the way to go. Add in the fact that forward controls off a breakout are direct swap! Also, if you're neglecting your bike because you're worried about what others may think of the looks....well...I'll just leave that one alone. Getting rid of those horrible Hollywood bars was the best thing I've done yet...and looks 10X cooler!

Well I am not worried of what others will think I was worried that I could not like the look as much without the floor bords but now that I have seen pictures it's not as bad as I though I would even say I like it

Another idea that might mix what you're looking for: Keep the floorboards but add highway pegs (could do something traditional or something like the Kuryakyn Cruise Arms). This would give you multiple foot/leg options when riding. They're also easily removable if you wanted to use them for longer rides vs around town.

I put forwards on my Softail Slim, and love it! The floorboards were comfortable, but dragged around every corner.. horrible lean angle. Also, I like the look of simple/clean controls.
