Hello, new member to the forum. I ride an 05 Softail Deluxe, my husband rides an 07 Streetglide. I do have a question . Having a problem with my deluxe with it getting over full on oil. It calls for 3 1/2 quarts but that is too much. This time we put just 3 quarts in it. Has anyone else had this problem?
Welcome to the Forum from Colorado!
The amount of oil called for and what fits is a common issue. I usually add 2 1/2 to 3, start it and go from there.
As above, add 2.5 to 3 liters. Start it and let it warm up and/or ride it around the block. Put it on side stand and check. Should be halfway between add and full marks when hot. Add as needed...
Generally 3 1/2 quarts fits when the engine is dry. Basically when it is new from factory. When you change the oil there is still oil left in the motor. Like stated above, start with 2 1/2 quarts and add as needed. I also like to keep the oil in the center between the low and full marks.
