I basically got them because I didn't like position of brake lever..all my sport bikes/race bikes/motards have adjustable levers and brembo masters so I get lots of adjustment and feel out of them...not that my hands are small was more of a comfort zone of what I'm used to...you cant bring the clutch one in much or it wont engage enough...you will have to play with adjustment on cable adjuster or clutch itself to get some distance in...very nice levers though oberon makes some nice stuff and have lots of their parts on my ducatis

Sounds great. Oddly enough, the wife isn't having as much trouble with the clutch as she is with the brake. I took a couple of measurements and the clutch at rest is about 5/8ths of an inch closer to the grip than the brake. And, of course, the bike being new and all, there's no slop to the brake lever and the front brake is fully engaged with just a short pull.

Her inexperience with the bike has caught her ham-fisting the front brake at a crawl thus pulling the bike over, bruising her pride but little else. If I can get her hands to fit the controls more comfortably, she'll probably do much better given the fact that her bike has already bitten her.

I have to say, I'm very proud of her. For someone who has never ridden before, she's picking it up wonderfully. Over the weekend, she completed the California Motorcycle Safety Course and since then, we've been tooling around the neighborhood playing follow the leader, trying to get her better acquainted with her bike. I keep her close in the rear view and have no complaints about the way she is handling herself and the bike.

Once I get these levers installed, I'll report back with the results.

Thanks again guys!

well that makes sense then..didn't have a problem with the clutch either but the brake like u said its right at the top..pull it barely and it engages...they will for sure make her feel more confident..i guarantee!

Well, the new levers came today and the brake lever is WRONG. Effing figures. I didn't even pull the clutch side apart, as I'm unsure whether or not it's right either. I don't know why it has to be so damned difficult.

And, of course, CoastFab is closed until Monday, so the wife's bike gets to set in the garage for yet another weekend.

Screw it, it's time to drink.

Sorry about the situation. What is WRONG with them?

1. Your ordered the wrong levers for the year/model
2. Your ordered the correct levers for the year/model but they sent the wrong ones
3. Your ordered the correct levers but they just don't fit
4. You're attempting to install the clutch lever on the brake side
5. You were drinking before attempting the install

Please enlighten us.

Lol... Although, a lot of this list sounds like me when I've been drinking, I assure you I was very much sober when I went to install them.

I went back and verified that I ordered the right ones for the application, however it appears I either got the wrong brake lever in the correct box -OR- the manufacturer is not familiar with the '16 FLS. To be honest with you, it looks like a brake lever for a bike with a mechanical throttle cable whereas this bike is fly-by-wire. The pivot point is in the wrong location and is off by about 3/8ths to a 1/4 inch.

Also, the brake master cylinder plunger contact point is way off from the stock lever and the portion of the lever that contacts the brake light switch is too long and bottoms out in the switch housing.

The clutch lever looks dead on although I'm going to hold off installing it until I can consult with the dealer on Monday. It's not going to do any good to install it until I get the correct replacement brake lever anyway.

OK... The guys at CoastFab are great to deal with. I was able to get everything worked out and they sent me the correct levers.

I got them today and, as before I was immediately impressed with the fit and finish of the levers. Installation was a breeze. Granted, the clutch lever can't be adjusted back as far to ensure complete clutch disengagement, but as I said before the wife didn't have as much trouble with the clutch lever.

I gave it a quick test drive and handed it back over to the wife. We both went out for a ride and she stopped beside me at the first traffic light with a big dumb grin on her face. Now she has zero issues with her tiny hands gripping the levers. And it was very evident from the beginning as her stops are now nice and smooth instead of choppy and nerve racking. Yeah, now mamma is happy-happy and a in better control of her scooter.

Oberon makes some damned nice levers, just sayin'
