I have a 2006 Springer classic as we all know it has a tank badge and metal stripping that was to help with the "Nostalgic" look of the 1946 models.
My question is this: Can i in fact remove the existing emblems and replace them with the real McCoy! Here is a pic of the original equipment badge.
Here is the current Badge on the tank
im thinking that something along the lines of fishing string and a heat gun might get the old ones off.... someone with Harley emblem experience will chime in, but i have used this method to remove emblems and other things on my camaro.... came out looking brand new...
Try a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen up the adhesive then peel or use the floss/fishing line trick. Any residue can be cleaned up with Goo Gone or something like that. This comes up in the Dyna forum a lot with the tank badges on the Street Bobs.
I'm pretty sure those emblems are available from HD part #61749--40T. The trim strip is part #61798-41T. Adapter kit for use with modern fatbob tanks part #61785-92T. Hope this helps. BTW ,there is also a photo and pricing on page page #640 of 07 HD parts catalog.
