This is my 4th winter with this bike. I am finally getting serious about getting the bike painted and putting on a Clock Werks front fender and a 4" stretched rear fender. I thought I knew what I wanted to do but now that its time to actually do it, I cant lock down a color or color combo I want.
I also lack knowledge about paint though. Can anyone explain candy, pearl and the different kinds of paint? I also will not be painting this set of black and white tins that are now on it, stock. The black and white turned out so well, in my opinion, so I will not ruin them or paint them. I already have another tank.
I was thinking a burgundy, a light powder blue or a shade of red. I also cant make up my mind if I just want it all one color or to add some silver, or a white to match my seats and my www tires.
Any knowledge or info from a paint knowledgeable person or just an opinion passed on to me would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a pick of a Fatboy I had painted. (I know not a deluxe) I added the clockwerks front fender and left the rear alone. The fender from clockwerks is a really heavy gauge steel. did a two tone red and white. Personally I would do a two tone.

So in a nut shell, pearls tend to change the color you are seeing based on the angle you are viewing them from, they can be easily added to a base coat or painted on top, before the clearcoat. And Candies are a tinted translucent paint that is painted over a base color, that makes it brighter, or deeper typically. Hope that sort of helps you understand it a bit better.

Thanks skid_pimp, that short reply was more clear then guys I talked to for a half an hour of discussion. I'm not locked down on a color yet Ruggs59 but I am locked in on a two tone paint job. I will add white to go with my seats I had done and my WWW tires so I need a main color that goes well and pops with a white. Thanks to kneesinthebreez and Mike NY for the sites to see different colors ON the bikes.
As for the greens? There are a few I really like but not sure I could ride a green bike. Years ago a buddy bought a sporty and tore it down and painted it Sea green. Everyone made **** of him until we all seen the finished product. I have to say it turned out "bad azz" and the color REALLY popped!

No worries bud, there is more to it, but I was hoping that would give you the down and dirty. You have to pick your own colors, but the good thing is white goes with just about anything. White looks great with a pearl, if it floated your boat, and if you paired it with a dark contrasting color some dark and most medium colors look good with pearls instead of, or with the white. And if you choose a lighter or brighter contrasting partner color for with the white, a candy would amplify it beautifully
no tank badge, it will be a simple 2 tone paint job and I don't care if anyone looks at me or not as long as I like it. I do show the bike so it really has to pop no matter what color I go with. I want the paint to look very deep and wet.
I also have a really hard time posting pics from my phone and I don't know why.
