Default 08 softail custom security system

Hi,

Does the security systems on 08 fxstc include an alarm that makes noise when set off or will the bike just not start if you dont have the fob?

The bikes that come with the security fob will not start without the fob nearby. The bike should flash all of it's turn signals including the left and right signal indicator arrows on the speedometer if has the security portion (without the siren) installed on the bike. If it does, the bike should have come with at least one alarm fob. If the bike does not have the alarm (speaker) module plugged in, it will not make a sound but it should flash the signals.
You have 3 options if you want it to chirp/wail;
1) leave it without any sound
2) buy part #68925-07 (security module) for $300 and/or part #68958-07A (alarm speaker) for another $90 & install it yourself (or pay the stealer to install it)
3) buy a $5 pizio alarm and install it yourself

This was one of the first mods I did to my '08 Softail. Still works flawlessly. Do a search for Radio Shack Alarm…
Here's a good write-up on a couple baggers

For our Softails, remove the plastic inner fender in front of the rear wheel. Plenty of room in there. I actually put an amp there without any problems. If you use either the factory speaker or a Radio Shack one, the install is virtually the same. Here's a picture of what it will look like when the inner fender is removed…

Here is what the factory speaker module (part# 68958-07A) looks like…

Hope this helps!

wow this harley dealership sucks. Took the bike to be checked out....so they call me an hour later and say its perfect...awesome bike everything checked out. 7 hours later they email with the results and say oh by the way it needs to have the starter clutch replaced it had a very loud chattering noise. I never heard that noise, either did the seller....i started it many times too. They are lying to generate money, frikkin crooks. Even if it was real, really 7 hrs after the inspection via email your going to say by the way theres a problem? *** clowns.
