Tomorrow is a bittersweet day. Pickingup my new 2016 Heritage. Traded my 08 Superglide in and cant help but feel like I'm losing an old friend.
Sure gonna miss the dyna but the wife says time for something more comfortable( maybe should have traded her for something more comfortable). No! Shes a good girl too! Anybody else ever feel like this?
My Dyna to Softail change actually had a Sportstwr in between, so not exactly the same story. What I can tell you is that my Street Bob was a great bike after putting a good suspension at both ends.
Although I miss it, I'd pick my Slim if I had to choose between the two. It's hard to say why, but the style and riding characteristics fit me better.
The Slim Is a much better traveling bike, even compared to the Street Bob after suspension mods.
My bet is that you'll have fond memories of the Dyna, but will really like the Heritage and have no regrets.
Just sold my Sportster & got a really good deal on a 98 Springer. I wanted to sell it desperately for a Dyna before I registered it & put money into it due to the controls but ended up keeping it. Its a super comfortable ride but its not a "sporty" ride. My wife will like it better & we have a TON of potholes in New England so I guess its for the best.
I still wish I could have test driven a Dyna vs this Springer to make the call myself but if your wife was complaining about the Dyna ride, I'm sure my wife would have too!
I did the same. Out with the 04 fxdl and in with the deluxe. I still miss it, but way more happy with the deluxe. Bride is more happy to. You will call it good memories.
did the same, out with the 08 super glide and into a 12 fatboy lo. needed more comfort. the dyna was fun but the long bumpy trips started to kill my already screwed up back.
I always feel that way but it gets easier with time but some have a soul and talk to you, when you find that one you have to keep her..lol
first Harley to current.
sportster 883r (glad it was gone)
superglide (sad it went)
Springer classic (boring)
deluxe (oh well)
street glide (lost 15,000 worth of add ons..lol)
fatboy (she talks to me)
I'm keeping the fatboy even if I get another bike it's carbed easy tin swaps and a 95 kit..she stays in the corral (seriously looking at the lowrider S)
