Default Stuttering on acceleration, crap help!!!!

So 2001 fatboy (carb), recently pulled head to extract exhaust stud. Replaced head gasket and both rocker box gaskets. All torqued to spec. Had the stock head pipes with some unnamed slip Ons. I replaced them with freedom performance patriots. Replaced exhaust gaskets, torqued to spec. While breaking down engine I pulled carb and cleaned it up. Appears to have a 45 slow and a 185 main with a host power jet kit and drilled vaccume and needle hole (1/8). I'm a noob at rejecting and such so I'm flying blind here. The bike starts and idles smooth, when I pull throttle under load the bike stutters terribly. It will back fire if I let off the throttle while rolling. But that's it. If I really get on it. Things tend to level out but only if I'm wrenching the throttle. PLEASE HELP!!! I'm supposed to ride to Hiroshima Saturday. And if all your going to do is tell me to look it up.... I tried for a bit but I'm just to damn frustrated!!! Also brand new plugs ,new gas and if I look close there appears to be a very small black puff when I pop the throttle with no load.

You may want to post this in the fuel / tuning section of this forum- have you tried adjusting your accelerator pump? normally if you whack the throttle and it stumbles it means there is not enough gas.

First though, you need to make sure your carb is tuned in first. then the last thing you do is tune in the accellerator pump.

watch this video. good 6 minutes of learning.

If and when you post your question to the Fuel and Tuning section re-word your title to include the word sputtering. Stuttering is when you have a hard time talking.

stutter verb [I] (NOT SMOOTH)
› to work or happen in a way that is not smooth or regular:
Suddenly the engine stuttered and then it stopped completely.

Thank you for English lesson, I am so happy that you decided that you had time to read my post, read the responses and formulate a post to tell me that I used the word stutter in the wrong context. I'll bet that in time spent telling me to re-title my post, you perhaps could have posted something that would actually HELP ME WITH MY ISSUE. While maybe this problem may seem basic to you, it is not to me and being stuck serving overseas I don't have the luxury of being able to take it to the "local dealership" or a "local mechanic" unless you know of one in the Kyushu island of Japan that speaks good English and will work on Harley's..... So I have to rely on these forums.......you don't know the answer or want to help with the problem as described? Then don't post!

Majoring on the minors and minoring on the majors..

A few of the mods are no better..
One chicken actually advocated opening a door on a lane splitter
Posters shredded him.
He then used his privileges to remove his post and ALL
references to him.

A certain coders site, a certain gun site.. Rounds out the the other two..

The fuel / air mixture is out of adjustment. Turn it in until it lightly seats then back it out 1 1/2 - 2 turn. That is your starting point. Fire the bike up and adjust it until the engine accels smoothly. Take it out and ride it you may need to do some fine adjustment. Also make sure your accelerator pump is working and not leaking.

I posted what i did so when and if you posted to the other forum that the other people reading your post there would have a better understanding of exactly what the problem was that you were experiencing. Nothing more, nothing less. If you can't realize that I was in fact trying to help you because of you're diminished intellectual ability then I suggest you get a little bit thicker skin.

This is the last time I am going to respond to your posts here because I'm not here to fight. But I kind of feel like using fancy words to say I'm an idiot is kind of inappropriate. Hah, name calling.... Kind of ironic since you handle is "old enough to know better". Just saying.

Nope, stuttering, sputtering, and shuddering can all be valid descriptions of running and tuning issues on an engine.

If you're a speech therapist or somethin', your definitions of speech disorders may not cross perfectly with descriptions of engine disorders.
