For something that was so easy to fix it sure was hard to get the correct information.
The following will remove the mystery - a simple fix/procedure.
The fix covers -
• 2006-2007 Dyna models
• 2008 and earlier FXDWG
• 2008 and earlier FX Softail models
• 2008 and earlier VRSC models
In a nutshell, remove the steering stem nut, bend back and remove the tanged washer.
Replace the tanged washer with a new smooth, hardened washer 45727-08.
Replace the nut and torque to 70-80ftlbs.
Done.
