today I had a red light come on, on my dash. It went out a second or 2 later. Looked up what it was, it said security system /electrical. On my home after dark the headlights got real bright and the red light cam on again and then light dimmed and red light went off. in my 30 minute ride home it happend 3 times. anyone have any ideas on what this might be?

 

I had the red light thing and then later the engine state 2 dying on me. Turns out I needed a new ignition...on a 3 year old fatboy.

 

My first guess would be your voltage regulator is on its way to the grave. Start diagnosing by checking voltage at the battery, regulator, etc... There's a good diagnostic sticky in the elect forum.
