Default Grinding Noise

I have a 2009 softail 103 ci. When I let out clutch in neutral, there is a grinding noise. The noise is still there when I pull clutch in until I rev it up . Would like to avoid a trip to the shop...just bought it and my wife already isn't real happy.

Drain the fluid, pull the cover and have a look-see.

1/2 turn max.
Are you noticing any cluch slippage or other performance issues that might be related?

Engine running, transmission in neutral, clutch lever released, you hear the noise.

Pull in clutch lever, you hear the noise.

Drop transmission into 1st gear, noise stops.

Does that description fit?

When my 2008 Heritage did this, it was a bad Compensator and inner primary bearing.

I can't stand it! Every time I read this title I am reminded of those little bells you put on tricycles that go "Gring, Gring" when you flip the lever.
