Default Deuce console delete suggestions

Hey guys. I found what I've been looking for to clean up the console & tach on my bike. I never really liked the giant tach sticking off of the riser clamps but I really don't want to live without a tach. I've found a device that will replace the tach and speedo that's tiny and fits in a pretty inconspicuous place.

My next issue would be either getting a new tank or doing a console delete. The console covers the fuel pump, so I need either a new strip that would cover that and just completely get rid of the giant speedometer, or a new tank. I've honestly never looked at new tanks, but I would either want something similar to the deuce tank in style (longer and thinner than a standard softail tank) or something like a Sportster tank that's longer and taller. The downside on the sportster tank would be the capacity. With the Deuce tank, it's 4.9 gallons and I can get about 170 miles on a tank with the 3" lift on it currently. Also, I don't want something outrageous that stretches back and around the seat. The last issue would be that currently have no idea what would need to be done as far as the fuel pump goes.

So, could anyone on here school me on the basics of a tank swap that requires a new fuel pump location or offer any options for a console delete?

You can always do an EFI to Carb conversion to not have to worry about the fuel pump.

Another thought is to look at aftermarket fuel tanks. Some may have the fuel pump assembly on the underside of the tank.

I'm definitely not going to swap to carb from EFI.

The easiest thing to do, would be to find a new dash piece that deletes the speedometer, but I'm doubting there's going to be anything out there for the Deuce because of the age and the "rarity" of the bike. Is this something that could be made without spending a ton of money?

The Harley Blackline deleted the console....
It still had a tank panel to hide the fuel pump assembly.

Go to the parts finder and look up those OEM parts.. You would then just have to move the speedo somewhere off the bars..

I was looking at that, but I don't know if it would fit. The Deuce tank is longer and thinner than a standard softail tank.

You might be able to use your existing tank with this:

Gas-It Fuel Injection Kit

  • Relocates OEM 01-07 Delphi fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter & fuel level sending unit to the underside of your custom tank
  • A smooth and reliable way to hide all fuel injection components
  • Includes billet machined steel weld-in plate, 3.75" X 8" aluminum manifold
  • Same kit that is included with RSD Fuel Injected Gas Tank Kit
  • Requires vented tank or vented gas cap
  • *Custom fabrication and welding required. Your custom tank’s bottom must be relatively flat to accommodate part installation
  • *Not legal for sale or use on pollution controlled vehicles*2008-11 models require use of 2001-07 OEM Delphi Fuel Injection Components
  • *Gas-it Kit uses existing fuel pump components from your fuel injected Softail. If starting from scratch, you must purchase all of the following components from your local HD dealer for 2001-2011 Delphi systems (27408-01, 61001-01, 75300-05, 62897-01B, 6

Wow...Of course RSD is expensive. I can buy a tank for half that price.

Looking at it, I'm getting the idea of seeing if I can do something custom maybe and even running without a console for a little while. Looks a bit industrial that way.

You can use the rocker c dash panel, it´s smaller.
(I changed my rocker c dash panel for deuce panel, deuce panel look better and more beauty).

Except for the giant speedometer sticking up out of it. It that wasn't there, it would be perfect.

You know Dakota Digital makes an analog combo for the Deuce now?

It's pretty pricey but looks awesome.
