Default Open primary help

I have 05 night train that I have wanted to go open primary on.Just looking to see what people think of the ultima 3.35 set up. I attached a couple of picks. just need some straight up advice. On ebay one listing says ultima 3.35 open primary $899.00 jireh cycles then another calls it bdl 3.35 pen primary $1099.00 they appear to be identical so what is the deal is bdl ultima? are they junk? I would be getting the flat black with belt cover/brace. Just looking for some insight. I no nothing on these.

Buy a bdl. The ultima is kind of a funky system. It's very wide and uses proprietary parts to which you can only get from ultima. I am sure it's a decent setup buy primo, evo industries, and bdls are like the baker of belt drives

Your 2 top choices would be BDL & Rivera-Primo. Both sell black open belt primaries, and are about the same price. I went with an R-P because of 3 reasons...

1. BDL support sucked, while R-P actually answered their phone and cared enough to call me back.

2. R-P's product uses steel (like the OEM parts) in critical places where BDL's is softer aluminum.

3. BDL exasperates HD's already poor gearing by changing the oem primary ratio (1:35) to (1:32) where R-P changed it to (1:55), eliminating the need for a final drive gear ratio change to get better off-line torque.

Plus 1 on the BDL.... Just put one on my Rocker and love it!!...and I had no problem with their customer service, talked to Scott several times and he was very helpful, call or email him if you have any questions about their belt drives and he gets right back to you.....

Another vote for the BDL.I also talked to Scott a few times when I did my install, and he called back right before closing once which was awesome for me mid job.I would try to find out your options as far as primary gearing,as mine was a little off as stated, and my speedo is about 5mph low.Still and all, mines worked great for me.Pantsleg......not so much.

I left my guards off.

I'm glad to see that BDL finally realized that they had to improve their customer service. I originally ordered a BDL primary, but after a month of trying to get them to even talk to myself or the dealer I ordered from (DCP), I gave up and called Rivera-Primo, who at the time hadn't tested their drive on a Breakout, but called me back after they'd tested it out and gave me the part numbers I needed and dealt with my dealer to get me set up. This was in the Fall of 2013, so apparently BDL has changed since then.

Another vote for BDL. Scott is the man. I also recommend a chain conversion for your final drive. If you're going to have the bike that far apart already you might as well knock that out too. It's about a $350. investment that will save you time and money in the future.
