My 2016 Slim S has Cobra slip-ons,dealer told me didn't need a tuner unless going w/full system. There's a little popping but nothing that bad, it is normal.I suppose you could go with a tuner which would help but I'm no expert,do a search on here probably get your answer.

Welcome. You can get rid of them with a tuner. FP3 is convenient and perfect if you don't plan on doing any other engine upgrades.

Did you use any type of exhaust sealer on the small ends of the slip-ons before your installation? The popping you hear is most likely related to a leak at the joint between the header pipe and the slip-ons.

Excellent choice on your bike! I love mine! I went with the tts tuner, a set of reinhart crossbacks, and a full dyno tune. I did get a lot of popping when just a map was loaded in, but after the tune, almost none. Only problem is getting my sena 10 s loud enough to hear over the exhaust. I was going to leave it stock, but after hitting a dear on my way to work last year in the early morning, I thought louder might keep that from happening again? Totaled the front end.
