Default Photo Blocker Does it work?

I saw somewhere on this forum about Photo Blocker for redlight runners and toll runners. I can't find the discussionsoI wanted to post my experience so far. I heard alot of pos and neg feedback and was just curious to check it out. I got it for $30 and applied it as directed and let sit. Took some shots with my digital and wasdissappointed it didnt seem to work when I took pics but applied it on 5 times and then after 2 days took this pic.

It it obviously working.
The Trailblazer plate is in direct sun.
The Harley tag is almost in direct sun
and I see in the background an old trailer tag hanging on the wall
No photoshop or anything except to resize.
I have heard alot of negative reports on this product but will say it works to a point.
Yea I know the bags on the bike need the saggybags and they are on the way.[sm=gears.gif]

I got it at photoblocker.com and it says to do 3 good coats. I also found somewhere that the tags have to be extra clean and that allowing 3 coats to cure overnight and reapply next morning. I still can see my tag numbers on some angles but not near as many now.

My wife was caught on camera speeding. At the hearing, the Cop said that it is accurate to within 1 MPH. The camera view never shows the driver so it could have been me[sm=gears.gif],but I'll never admit it to her.

How many plates do you think you can get out of a can?

You do realize thatstuff and the plastic plate covers are illegal and if you get caught the fines canbe significant.
My wife had a CLEAR plastic cover, not a stealth or even a tinted cover over herplate and itcost her $85.
The cop who ticketed her warned her that they were getting serious about people putting things over the plate numbers, and even clear plastic is illegal here in NY. I imagine that 'painting' them would annoy them even more, remember technically the plate doesn't belong to you, it'sstate property.
I'm not a lawyer, or a cop, but you don't have to be one to figure out that if a cop wanted to get ugly about it he could give you a ticket fordefacing public property with intent to defraud.
And if they dislike clear plastic I don't think your going to get very fartelling a judge thatyou just used it to keep the plate clean.

I guess I would get in just as much trouble riding aroung with a mud covered truck and plate. It is legal to place a clear cover over my licence tag in Fla accoding to FHP.Local cities and govornments my have differnt views on this.He also told me there is no law against coating your tag with clear coat as long as he can see the tag clearly. I'll let you know if and whenI get stopped for this! If I do get in trouble I can simply remove the coating with acetone and fight it in court.

Howdy,

I have a mate who has two fines with "thanks a lot Photo Blocker" written on them and pinned to his garage wall. Whilst it does make it harder to see you can still make it out in most cases. Also you will find that most cameras (in Australia anyway) don't flash during daylight hours hence the photoblocker is totally useless during the day. Further, a lot of speed cameras here now use an infrared flash which again does not help you avoid prosecution.

Best way is to lean back and put your hand over the plate. It's great for avoiding the toll on Pay roads too Give em a year or two though, they will probably x-ray as well

Take the photo from the SAME ANGLE as the speed or red light camera does. It is only working in that shot because it is reflecting directly back into the camera. From 12 feet in the air, the light will deflect downwards and not blank out the plates nearly as much. I don't know about in the US but here they go to great lengths to get the plate ID and have people who will change the contrast and blow up the photos for the more difficult to read fine. Here, is you speed more than 45km/hour over the limit you get a fine which is well in excess of $1000.00 and lose your license for several months immediately so it is worth their while to spend a minute playing with the photo.

Hand over the plate with the middle finger extended works a treat though. Just a shame I couldn't reach the rear plate on my Hayabusa... would have saved me some trouble.

Regards,
Dean

MythBusters did a show on all the "Photo Blockers" that claim to work and everyone of the different brands failed miserably!
