I just purchased another springer (2001 FXSTSI).. I've had several springers, but always as a 2nd bike and had a touring bike for long hauls. Well, I just had a 1000 mile 3 day trip on the Springer and though I'm not too tall (5'11") found my legs cramping at times. I don't think I'm tall enough for forwards (32" inseam) and not a fan of highway bars on Springers.. any thoughts? Maybe I don't have too many other options..
I fear that forwards are more than the seat.. mind sharing approx how much forward controls set you back?
Well it was approximately 24 years ago... LOL. It was my old 1992 FXR. At the time I would wager it was around 300 bucks. Not sure what they are today?
But, I really, really didn't care for the mid controls and was happy to drop the coin at the time.
Im 5'11" myself and the ness 3" control extensions on the factory controls made mine perfect with the badlander seat. And a whole lot cheaper than a lepera seat.
Floor board extensions(moves boards out 3/4") This is one of my first mods on my Softails and FL's. It does not sound like much, but keeps leg off A/C and more airflow and comfort. About 50 bucks and 1 hr to put them on yourself. See them @ vtwin goodies.
