Hi all, so the wife and I attended a memorial bike run. Thank God no instances or accidents. I noticed on the way home that the shifter was not resetting after upshifting. There is still tension and no issues on the downshift only the upshift. Any help is appreciated.

Check the shifter lever for binding. A lot of times it needs to be lubed where it goes through the forward control mount. Check the shifter lever on the transmission for being loose. Worse case scenario you will need a pawl

 

It could be the shifter return spring broke inside the transmission. I had this happen on mine about 3 years ago. Hopefully the piece dropped ti the bottom of the trans and didn't mess up any gears.

 

Thanks for the replys guys, Well as far as the shift shaft is concerned all is lubed and smooth with no binding. I feel like it is inside the transmission as Tony stated. I guess I will be pulling the transmission all for a damn spring.
