Default Windshield help

I just bought a Reckless Fairing. I was wondering if anyone has put a different windshield on the Reckless Motorcycle Fairing. I want the newer style shield that has the whip ( Not sure what it's called ) on the top to kick the wind up. I have the 8" smoked windshield on it now. I was wondering if I put the other style 6" shield on, would it work better the regular 8" shield. I'm not a tall guy, only 5'8". Thanks for the info.

Have a reckless fairing on my 06 classic with the 10" clear. HD oem and aftermarket for HD do fit with the 3 hole set-up. Not sure what your trying to do? I'm 5'9" and the wind from the top goes over my head about 3 to 4 " high. I do get a bit of wind from the sides right in my throat/chest area. Hardly any from the headlight area. I'm sure deflectors would take care of the side areas just can't do that for looks yet. Not bothering me anyways really and with our crappy weather been riding down to 40 degrees nightly.

I'm 5'8" with a 30" inseam.

On my Reckless fairing I installed a 10" Long Ride Shield.
It was just a about 2" too tall so I ordered an 8" model.

The 8" model is just about right which allows me to just see above the shield.

My recommendation is to get a LRS 8" recurve light tint.
Unless you don't ride at night I wouldn't go any darker.

Thanks, I was just looking at LRS. I'm with you on the tint also. Mine is "smoked" right now and it is a little dark at night. I'll check them out. Thanks again.

One of my problems is my beard. It's so long that it whips up in my face. I put it in a braid and I have a chin erection. I wear a bandana at times, but it's a PIA, because it still hangs way below that. I thought the newer shield might help a bit. I know most of the wind is coming from the sides. I also heard they are a little more comfortable ride. I'm gonna look into LRS, like Bluraven says. And 40 degrees has a nice wind chill to it. Hahaha

I am looking to get a reckless fairing this fall for my Fat boy S. I put a windsplitter on a few months ago and had to make spacers for my windshield since I didn't have the auxillary lights which give the correct spacing for the grommets to attach to. I have since put the auxillary lights on it (worth it for lighting up the road when dark) and think the reckless will drop right in? Just got in from the shed from relocating my turn signals to fit a set of 2016 hard bags off of a road glide. Waiting for the cycle vision baggertail to come in and then all that's left is to get a seat. The stock is to fat and keeps the lids from opening. Hello softail bagger. Tired of back packing everything. I guess I should have bought a street gluide, but after test riding both a few times, loved the softail way more.

Also I just noticed you didn't mention the bike or what setup you have.

I have a Heritage with the Signature Series Seat.
Both sit low so an 8" might be too low for what you need.

Note that with the LRS as long as you don't take the plastic wrap off you can return or exchange it.

Check out youtube for the LRS measurement.
Note that in the video it states the windshield should be between your top lip and the nose.

I have mine right at my nose.
This allows for higher air flow stream which reduces buffering for my Wife.

hey fatboy 16s also put hard bags on my classic but didn't have to change the seat the lids cam back and out of the way. love the reckless fairing didn't have to even turn my aux lights like they said I might. Only thing is I get they wind from the sides blowing my beard into my face a little. So I have softail bagger also. Like the glides but love the softails.

I've got the same problem with the beard. Some times you just want to get on and go, but I have to fix my beard. I have a '13 Heritage and the Reckless Fairing looks great. My bike is stock, other than 3" V&H Split Shots and the fairing. I got the one with the amp & speakers and I just run my phone or ipod through it. I'm really happy with Reckless. The tunes are great also. Louder than I need, but I like to crank it now and then.
