My 2011 Deluxe has this feel like a car with bad u-joints. When back off on the throttle then accelerate there is a slight delay/clunk sort of thing. I thought something loose, axle, swing arm; okay. Adjusted clutch. Still there. Really notice it shifting I don't think I have described it well as it is hard to describe. Thoughts.

 

have you checked the belt tension? also maybe check the engine an trans mounting bolts.

 

Belt tension is good. Just adjusted in process to install new tire. I'll check the other two but I would think they would be very obvious if either the engine or tranny was loose. It almost like the engine catches up like when you would ride your bicycle down hill and your pedals would catch up with the speed of the bicycle.

 

On the wheel side of the belt pully there are 6 rubber isolators inside the pulley.these my be damaged or missing.Or the pulley could have come lose.either way you should remove the wheel and investigate further.

 

I may be wrong, but I think those rubber isolators are on the touring models. Check the primary chain tension also.
Back ion 2011 or 12 I road tested a new blackline to see if I liked it. During the roadtest I felt exactly what your feeling on your bike. Like a car with a worn rear that has to much backlash. At the time I had a nightrain and never had that feeling on and of the throttle, but I felt it immediately while riding that Blackline. Hope you find the problem.

 

I agree sounds like primary chain.

 

There was a time period ( late 11- may of 12) that had spokes coming loose. M1326 told the dealers to stake and retrue all steel hub spokes wheels at first service. Wonder if yours got done or done correctly?

 

I agree with the primary chain. I'd also re-check the belt tension.

 

Also make sure the crank sensor isn't throwing a code.
