04 FXSTD Speedo replacement
Hi: New to forum. Limited skills, but decide to try to upgrade to Harley's new speed/tach combo unit. Watch a couple of videos. Problem is, the 04 Deuces instrument console is different from what I had watched. Its clear that the speedo has to be pushed "in" as opposed to being pushed "out".
Any tips/tricks I should be aware off ?
Thanks, Mike ??

Hi, here a vídeo of my rocker. The rocker use the deuce tank, and I after, I installed the deuce dash console. Because look better and I can put a 5" tacho. You can check the result.
The installation of the new tacho is plug and play. Maybe, if you bike its from 2004 year, the information of level fuel or gear, you will can not view.

Valdemar: Beautiful bike !!! It's got everything going on.
Am I correct - In your dash, spedo was removed inwards ?
Releasing tabs of black collar that are secured to metal posts
would be right move ? Tx ! Mike M.

OK, I decided to forge ahead. Again, my skill level is low. Transferred current mileage with supplied cable - no problem. As stated earlier, existing speedo has to be removed inwards.
After removing dash undid 2 electrical connectors. Now released 3 large clips securing speedo to inside of dash housing. That released the speedo from dash. Now pushed speedo inward and had it in my hand. Removed secondary bracket and gasket from speedo. Installed this bracket and gasket on new speedo. Now snapped this assembly back into dash bracket , and reconnected electrical connectors.
Now the fun part. Trying to re-mount dash while holding gaskets on side in place.
Finally got everything in place, and tested. So far, so good..
Test ride tomorrow, and learn how to set desired lighting colors of new speedo.
Experience was a little stressful, but I got it done.

Welcome to the forum from Texas.
Just an FYI
Once you travel 31.1 miles with that unit, that speedo/tach combo will be married to your bike (VIN). Once that happens, that unit cannot be used on any other bike even if you buy a new bike and want to transfer it.
