For those that may be interested in a Throttle Assist Boss, there seems to be some major confusion about what is available for the Avon grips ...which one fits which grip ...and what the blooming part numbers are.

Adm mentioned a one on eBay (and I bought it) that looked like...

What I received, and is shown in other eBay offerings was...

Apparently the first one is a very old design that hasn't been made for years.

The second pic seems to be the current one ...is huge ...and (I find anyway) horribly uncomfortable and not like the old ISO boss I really liked.

That new style seems to come in two different flavours ...one will fit the Memory Foam Small (and the Custom Contour), and the other the MF Medium (and the Air Cushion). Nothing fits the MF Large.

EDIT: if you can find one - an "old style" Air Cushion Boss (1st pic) would fit the MF Medium

Well dammit. I bought one like the second pic before I knew there were multiple versions. Have it here, but haven't tried fitting it to my large memory foam grips yet. Guess I won't bother and will just stick it back on eBay.

At least it was cheapish.

I have to say though, that the large memory foam grips are great. The new 2018 Softail does have some throb/vibes through the bars at speed and i really didn't like the feel of the stock grips. The Avons have a really nice balance between firmness and comfort and will do me fine for long days touring. Plus they look pretty good.

I had HD Edge Cut grips on my Dyna, and while they looked good they were pretty uncomfortable with the vibrations on long days. They were also cold as hell in the winter. Heated gloves sorted that out, but my hands froze back in July doing Alpine passes in the rain - as I didn't think I would need to pack heated gloves in July!

Having found a whole handful of different part numbers for Avon Bosses of one sort or another (and that's not counting those dreadful velcro on ones) ...maybe best to check before selling it on, I wouldn't take anything for granted

To be brutally honest, I thought the Memory Foam were just a bit cheap ...you can really feel the two mould lines along either side of the rubber if you are bare handed ...but then again, I'm just being really picky, and they are cheaper than a lot of others to be fair.

They do feel much better/grippy than stock so I may see how they do without a Boss on a longer run.

Never had much luck with foam or rubber. UV and friction tends to break them down. Had Iso's for the last 5 years and still just as good as the day I bought them.

Glad I installed the H-D electronic cruise control and don't have to worry about those boss things!

I need to check them out. I get that "Dead Hand" on my throttle hand. So, I like what I've read here. Thanks.
