Wow, thought this just might be interesting to some people. I’m a big boy with 4 kids probably older than most here and a few Grandchildren that ride. I’m just an Old Dog with too many different motorcycles on too many forums and too much time on my hands.
Well winter is here, time to teach some more kids how to shoot and reload Ammo.

It was plenty interesting...we all clicked the link hey! Too much time? Too many motorcycles? You've found a home!! Please keep bringing the mods. I'm going to mock up your mud flap for my M8 Heritage tonight. Shift light was a new one for sure. I think your race history justifies it, just as our lack of it made us scratch our heads.
I drag raced a car many many years ago, it never occurred to me to bring that to my Harley. I guess in my area there's not many straight roads either. It's more about low/mid grunt in the mountain passes. Not that my Heritage is the weapon of choice for that.

I was just having a little fun based on another thread in another section. No harm meant.
I'd sooner **** that $100 away at the titty bar than on a shift you should have already learned the feel of after the first week.
I Should have posted this over in the Turbo/ Supercharger section. When your running a Vtwin that makes 250 to 300 hp @ the rear wheel I’m pretty sure you have or need a shift light. Not that my M8 Low Rider has that power now, but eventually this motor has potential to out perform my turbo 120r.
That's a good link and good information thanks.
I need a light to keep me from shifting at too low of an rpm. LOL!

It’s great for breakin too. It only lights at the RPM you set if for. I put one on a friends triglide who lost his left foot. That unit has an output that trips a relay to trigger a Pingle shifter and kill the injectors for 50 milliseconds. He doesn’t even have to use the clutch once he’s moving. Of course the Pingle also has a switch to up and down shift also.
I'm in the passenger seat while my wife is driving her mustang right now. She needs a shift light.. No way to bring it up tactful. Shifts frim 1 to 2nd at 4k. 2nd to 3rd at 3k. 3rd to 4th at 2500. 4th to 5th at 2k. 5th to 6th at 1500k. Help me.
Tough group here. I can see the value of the shift light, when you are really getting on it. On the RoadKing, it's very ineffective to use the digital tach for a precise shift point. And come on experts, your butt isn't that accurate either. You can tell reasonably close, but if you want to rev to peak HP...your butt don't do it., If you really wanted to know when you hit...say 4,800 RPMs I see the value. Plus it would be cheaper than installing an analog tach.

I have a 17 GT with PP, small world. I have the same light on the Columb. My wife won’t drive mine, but loves to sit there telling me how I’m driving!, I took the spring out of the clutch pedal assembly as I couldn’t feel the clutch right and a few times almost got it to wheelie by mistake. I put a Vortec Supercharger on it .

JMHO...YOMV...
My stage 3 17 RK makes it’s max TQ @ 4200 (133) and it’s max Hp @ 5300 (122). I have the light set @ 5350. The rev limiter kicks in @ 6400 as set by the SE pro street tuner. However that motor went @ 2500 miles and again 400 miles later. So I’m on on my 3rd Stage 3. I’ve only put a couple hundred miles on it since H-D replaced the motor and have not had it on the Dyno. It doesn’t feel as strong as the first two as they actually sent a 114. Not a 107 done to a 114. I will not go into my 107 FXLR until they sort out the oil supply problems on the stage kits. My TQ and HP numbers are from their DYNOMITE Dyno, not a Dynojet. I might do just a cam as breaking down in Georgia on your way to Florida from New Hampshire really S***S
