I have a 2003 Fatboy with fuel injection that I have upgraded to the Screaming Eagle cam plate (25284-11) S&S lifters (33-5350) and Screaming Eagle roller rockers (17378-98). I needed to replace the old style chain tensioners and got a deal on all the parts (I thought). I took everything apart and reassembled it as manual and install instructions and when I start it the front cylinder has no compression and won't fire. I have disassembled it twice now and can't find anything wrong. I can get compression when trying to partial assemble but when I put everything together same problem. Anyone have an idea what I am missing before I have a HD mechanic look at it?
You didn't mention anything about pushrods, are they stock or adjustable. Also remember the stock pushrods the exhaust is longer, so if you skewed them the intake valve will stay slightly open.
When you change the lifters to an other brand you need adjustable pushrods.
For each cylinder you need to put the piston on TDC and check if you can still turn the pushrods with your thumb and index finger.
In your case the pushrod will probably not rotate, meaning your valve is still slightly open.
It's an easy fix, just get it done right.
