Default 07 Deuce wider rear tire MOD

Hello Everyone,

I have been looking for a few days around some different forums and the internet in general. I just bought a 2007 Softail Deuce and I would like to go from the 160/70-17 rear tire to a 200/55-17 rear tire. I have found some discussions on wider rear tires but no actual answers. I am wondering what modifications would need done to attain what I am looking to do. I found an article online that says no modifications are needed for that tire size but I want to ask the experts, so here I am. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Here is the article that I found with tire sizes. https://ridewrightwheels.com/pages/m...-fitment-chart

No expert here but I run a 200 (18) on my 2000 Duece
My only mod was to run the 20mm belt (2006 Night Train part#?
Avon Cobra or Venom tires. A Metzler 210 also works but I don't think they make that size or model any more.

^^^^^^Photo proof or "it didn't happen"

I turned my pulley down on a freinds lathe at the time.

Thanks for the info JohnnyMagic. I am just wondering since your year had a 1 1/8" belt from factory and mine has the 1" belt from factory if I would need to go to the 20mm belt. I do appreciate the help. I guess it may be one of those where i have to get it any try it. Hopefully somebody may have a 2007 as I think that was the 1st year they changed a couple of those things. Nice bike by the way.

You can get a spacer to run the 20mm on your 1" so you don't have to use a narrow pulley. "Pulley spacers"
I also had a 5 1/2" rear wheel.
Might make the tire profile fit in better than a wider rim.
Have heard of Duece owners with 200s having to grind the the nuts inside of fender. Mine have a full 1/2" clearance.

I had a look at that chart.
I doubt you could run the 200 with the 1" wide belt?
They show a 17x 6.25 to run 200/55/17

The wider rim would create a wider footprint on the tire? (maybe why some guys have to trim the nuts/bolts inside the fender)
That would also be a "critical" step to check before you rode off with new rubber grinding.

On the 18", they say 5 1/2" wheel 200/50/18 tire "Think mine is 55 aspect ratio?

I also have a 120 front on a 2.75 x 21 rim. Looks Beefy. Stock may be 2.15???

I also have a 07 Deuce and was looking into the 180 or 200mm rear tire. I talked to Hog Pro about this. They said it depends on each motorcycle, but they recommend going with the 18x5.5. I am really wanting to try this, but going to wait til I need a new rear tire and make it a winter project. I also found this https://secure.vulcanworks.net/store...-Tire-Kit.html in my research for spacer kits. This company said their kit will allow any brand 180 tire. Keep me updated in your research or what you end up going with.

You might also want to look at how they run the 180 tire on the CVO deuce .
