Anyone else having problems? I have a 07 softail standard with 1200 miles. Whileriding the other day three times it would shift into first and second but that was it. There was a lot of play with the shifter(the linkage was not loose). when I pushed the shifter forward then it would shift just fine like a return spring was missing......anyone?
Hi,
I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago. It started when I was city riding in hot weather(not that we've had much of that recently in the UK)
I popped it into my local dealer who said its a recognised problem and then machined down one of the forward control linkage bushes whilst I waited in the store. It took about an hour all told. The fix was free as Im still within warranty.
Hows that for service, even though it shouldnt have happened in the first place(but thats another story)
There is a very interesting 5 or so page article in this month issue of American Iron. Talks about some of the tranny items but basically states it is a much stronger than the 06 and previous. They do comparison reviews of both the 06 and prior and the new 07 and also onevery popular aftermarket tranny. Worth keepingin the library...
