I just bought an 06 deuce 3 weeks ago. I ve been reading the forums
for about 3 days and I'm learning alot. I m ready to do the exhaust,
intake, and programmer. I m looking for the best all around improvements
in the power band, drivability, and sound. I wanted to here your thoughts
and suggestions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Although my deuce is still stock, I've got my eye on a set of Porker Performance Jacknives (provided they make them for the 07) and an SE race tuner with the K&N filter. There are tons of posts on here regarding all the various combos. I would try a search and you will see what I mean. There is an 06 Deuce on this site with the combo I mentioned above, I just can't recall the user name.
Congrats on the Deuce and welcome to the family. We have to stick together now that the motor company has discontinued our beloved Deuce.

This is an open ended question! It completely concerns what you want from your Deuce now and for future mods. Try to find some soundbytes for the exhaust, the best sounding to me is probably different than yours. The tuner of choice on here seems to be the SERT or a PCIII from Fuelmoto. Arlen Ness Big Sucker or K&N for the air cleaner. Just some ideas. Good luck and keep us posted on your choices.
I'd start looking at bikes. If you go to a show, walk around and see what others have on their bikes and talk to them. You'd be better off looking and hearing the pipes in person. Have fun choosing the right stuff for your bike.

My wife just bought a 2007 Deluxe. We had the dealership put on Rush slip ons, a big sucker breather and race tuner. After 1000 miles, they dyno'd the bike. It runs like a scalded dog and has a nice throaty sound.

Asked myself those same questions over and over (and over) before settling on VH Big Radius with SERT and SE AC.
I hated the look of the dual shotgun HD pipes so was always going to change them over, and after looking around it was a choice between the BR and the VH Bigshots staggered which i thought also looked really cool. I opted for BR for 2 reasons, (1) the VH website sound filefor the BR was a bit throatier, and (2) a mate of mine has the BR so i knew they sounded and look great in the flesh... sometimes its hard to gauge how it would all look together from just photos. If you're seeking performance check out the numerous 2-1 systems shown in the Deuce photos section.
To compliment pipes there had to be a new AC and i opted for the Screaming Eagle one on the basis of a search i ran here at HDforums which showed the SE was more often installed over the Arlen Ness Big Sucker (K&N). I think since that thread was made the SE have had a few quality concerns so i'm watching mine closely but no problems so far. I'm now considering options for getting rid of the 'football' AC cover but haven't found something that rocks my world yet... consider a chrome backing plate for your AC if you're going to remove the cover at some stage.
SERT wasmy choice over a PCIII as i liked the idea of not needing to install further equipment onto the bike (just something else that could potentially fail - why complicate matters?). SERT flashes the ECM and resets it (for want of a more accurate term) while the PCIII module takes ECM data and modifies it. Both deliver similar results and PCIII has many advocates here, as does SERT. SERT is more techincal and will allow more tailored tuning which is handy if your talking further engine modifications but either would do ok for just an exhaust system. Consider who will tune your bike locally (or you yourself if you're proficient) as some dealers seem to have more expertise than others for both choices. I didn't consider a Stage 1 DL... i think thats been shown now to be a total waste of money with the new EFI engines. I never consdered the VH Fuelpak.
Overall, the whole package is nice and loud and cracks a very mean note around 3500rpms. As i had the install done at delivery i cannot comment on power imporovements over stock, but i've no complaints with performance. I'd do the same over again given the option.

I myself chose the route of the PC III, V&H Big Shot Staggered exhaust, and the Screaming Eagle (SE) air cleaner. I really liked the looks of the Big Radius better, but they also sounded louder and I wanted it corked up a bit (to prevent unwanted attention), so opted for the BSS with the quiet baffles.
The decision regarding the tuner was a no-brainer, once I researched the installation and stability/functionality, as I'm a computer guy and love the flexibility of being able to plug it in and tweak as necessary. The installation wasn't bad, and once I made the additional zero throttle position modifications it is working flawlessly.
Now that I've got the SE AC on, I too am looking for a replacement cover. I liked the 'football' originally, but now think it needs replacement... I've seen two that I like so far, so it won't be long before I make a decision and change it out.
Read all the threads you can, head to an event or two and check out as many bikes as possible, and talk to as many guys in your area as possible and you'll have enough education to make a reasoned decision based on your needs.
