Custom stuff bites me in the ***,..
Hi all..
Im not ecactly new here. but its my first post, im Danish i love Harleys and customizing.
Winter is over and my 2003 softail standard got a makeover, my first test drive was a disaster, my front fender got 2 dents and my top tree rubber bushings was like softice because of my new apehanger
Trying to make the storie short, but its gonna be hard
I used my Softail Standard lower legs on a fatboy front end, because i read posts about clearence between rim and fender is limited when you go 120-70/21 with oem legs and heritage fenders..?
So i used the standard ones because i messured the radius to the fender mounts was about 1" longer so i thought more gab is cool, and i knew that is would mean the fender would be about the 1" closer to the passing light bar, but i thought np. But now when i look at the pictures of my bike it looks very low the front end compared to other bikes i see.. So i wonder is it the standard legs that have kinda lowered the hole front end or what is wrong here.
I made 2 x ˝ inch preload spacers, and raised the oil lvl to 110mm. airgab think i can use it now, didnt try yet,.
1. pic. is the dent
2. pic. is the bike on the lift, looks okay the gab between fender and bar?
3. pic. is first time on the ground, i didt see how low it got, and drove with it like that on the first drive
4. pic. is after the preload and ekstra oil lvl.
Last pictures are just for you to see the bike and new solid engraved brass bushings and other parts i engraved ..
I did the engravings and everything else, im no pro but i like it so far, i need to do more and get me some fishtale end caps for the exhausts, then ill be closer to the goal, but money is few here
Thanks..
Dent
On the lift
1st time off the lift, very low
After more oil, and preload spacer

Totally sucks about your fender. Probably going to have to add longer tubes? Last couple of bikes I had I threaded tire valves in the fork caps and put about 10 lbs of air in the tubes. you can even use tubing and a "T" to balance the two sides! Oh. and sweet scoot!
