Was jut out riding and probably rode 40 miles. All was working well. Turned into my neighbor hood and noticed the speedo had dropped to zero (was working seconds earlier), but the bike was running fine. Turned into my street and the bike died. Stopped and tried to restart it and no joy. Turned everything off and then back on and the bike started right up, speedo is working again. Any ideas what problem I'm looking at? Oh, 2007 heritage..
Edit: No codes..

I just did that. All connections are clean and tight, including the starter. Right now it starts fine, but I don't want that to happen while I'm on the road to somewhere. Even after it died, it cranked strong, but no start. Only after I turned the ignition off and on did it start and things worked again.
A while back, I had a glitchy ignition switch. The bike would run fine and then all of a sudden.... dash lights out and the engine dies. I would giggle the switch a bit and everything was back to normal. Replaced the ignition switch ...problem solved.

Yep, I've been there. I had to replace my ignition switch a few years ago for that very reason. That doesn't mean it's not happening again. I don't recall the speedo dropping to zero at that time though. I'll keep a eye on it.
I just took the bike out again for a 10 mile ride and all is good at the moment, but that doesn't mean it will hold. I'll take it for a longer ride in the morning and hope for the best. Beyond the switch, I'd still like input on what might be a cause. Thanks!
