Default Tuning required??

Hello, I have an 07 deluxe that has the stage 1 kit, Vance and Hines pipes and the larger round air filter under the stock cover. If I change the cover out to the curved pipe and air filter, would I need to change the tuning??

Been tuned with the Stage 1 filter, and you're just replacing with a Stage 1 filter, I'd say no.

I am replacing with a completely different style. Not sure if the extra air flow to the filter makes a difference

It shouldn't make any difference

See how the bike rides after the changes. It might need a tune with the extra air flow, but you'll probably be able to tell.

It should not make a difference.... especially on a Stage I engine .....

If you have a good Stage I air cleaner now, it probably flows more than your engine can handle.... so adding a better air filter will not give you more air flow.... just the potential for more air flow... Your current intake, heads, and exhaust will be the limiting factors to your actual airflow.......

If it was tuned for Stage I, you should be good...

There were dyno tests done on another forum, with various high performance air filters on a big bore build... the Harley Heavy Breather did very well in the tests.... but there was a 3 HP difference between the best and worst..... With that small of a difference in a big bore build, it should cause virtually no difference in a Stage I , IF it was already tuned for the Stage I mods....

If you went Stage I , without changing the OEM tune, many will argue that you don't NEED a tune. And I would agree, if you are just worried about not blowing up your bike.

But I would suggest you should get a tune, whether you get a new air cleaner or not. I believe your bike will run much better, run cooler, and last longer with a proper tune for Stage I mods, regardless of high flow air filter used...

Good luck with your mods.....
