Are the triple trees of all softails interchangeable? I have a 2006 custom frame and it seems to be based off of an Evo motor in the old softail shocks. The bike is very raked out and I would like to put a shorter front end on it. So my question is are there any special measurements I have to look out for when ordering new triples?
Bikes raked out there you need to be real careful about tube length or it'll nose in on you grounding the frame underside, can't get too short in this case. Standard or custom 41mm 1" stem wide glide trees from the evo era will work, nothing on the trees themselves to worry about.
If the frames raked and they are usually stretched a bit too with those custom ones swapping parts alone will not do that for you. Post up a picture with a good side view of the frame sitting level on the ground from a step or two back with a bike or or something in the background for size context and one of us in here can tell you what you have to work with before you get busy spending money.
Not sure your going to get any shorter than you have there without the frame rail bottoming out on most anything. Custom made negative- raked trees or frame neck mod would be the 2 doable changes I see at all. going negative is sure to create trail problems effecting handling. A guy at work has a similar bike that rides and handles really good. Why do you want it shorter ? What is the measurement between the axle and the bottom of the neck itself ?
90% of the riding the bike is OK but slow maneuvers and in a parking lot I think you need about 132 foot turning circle Lol. Plus the bike is really low to the ground so I don’t get that much lean angle on it and turning right is worse than left because of the exhaust and the really crappy rear suspension.

No doubt raising the rear suspension would help a lot. It looks lowered quite a bit.
