Default I think my bike has been lowered

I been on a quest to improve the handling on my recently acquired 02 fatboy. Looking at the rear suspension yesterday, I noticed there was a nut on the suspension shaft that isn't shown in the book. Is this some aftermarket lowering kit? Can someone help verify that
this nut is supposed to be there or not? I think if I were to remove it or atleast move it back further that should give me a little more height in the rear.

This is the nut in question. Can I remove it or move it in the direction on the orange line to gain more ride height?

Figure 8 doesn't show the nut in question.

I have the bike on my lift right now. I measured the ground clearance with a tape and it was around 4 inches. Web pages online show that this should be 5 inches stock. Am I losing my mind?

Well nevermind. Looking at some stock shocks on ebay I came across some slightly used progressive 422 shocks. Pulled the trigger and I will now go that route instead.

There's nothing a suitable application of money won't solve! Good luck!
