Default Progressive 422 on 94 FXSTC-ride height high?

Could really use some help from you guys that have dropped your softails......
I bought a basically stock 94 FSXT in fall that I tore down over the winter to redo. It had Progressive 422's, but bike looked like it was sitting high last year, so after getting final coats of clear on new paint tonight, went out to lower it before installing the tins...
But according to the installation sheet I downloaded from their site, they are already adjusted to the max "lowest" position with 9/16th of thread showing, which is supposed to be a 2 inch drop? Here is pic from last year as I was tearing it down, does this look like its a 2 inch drop?? Sorry for what may be a stupid question, but expected lower fender height for max drop??
Tks in advance for any help! Want to get on road for the weekend!

No it does not look like a 2 inch drop. have you looked at the eyelet mounts and have you measures the exposed threads. 9/16th is a 2 inch drop and from the factory they come with a 1 inch drop, but the previous owner have adjusted that. from the photo it looks like zero drop.

I know, thats what I thought too......thats when I got PDF from Progressive and the went back out and measured the threads showing from the nut to the threads end near eyelet...exactly 9/16th of inch! Even double checked shocks to make sure they WERE 422's, and they are, found sticker with 422-4835 numbers on it! So looks like they are adjusted to max, but looks really high to me? I have to be missing something!

yea.....your looking at preload not the ride height...

the ride height is the LAST 2 bolts on the stud coming out of the middle of shock...pretty hard to even see as it hides behind bracket...

i can get some pics of mine but i bet someone beats me to a DIY diagram

basically the longer the shock is the lower the bike....so the last nut thats most forward on the bike should be at the very end of the stud....then you tighten the nut behind the bracket toward the rear of the bike up to it......shoudld be like 2" of threaded stud between the 2nd nut from the front wheel and the 1st of 2 nuts to adjust preload....the last two nuts on shock right up againts the can are preload..and you want the 3rd nut to be backed out of the can all the way for SOFT...then use the jamb to lock it in place..that's what you use the spanner wrench for..of course you will most likely need to firm it up if its dropped.

(this is how my 04 is....not same i guess for the 94)

Thanks, man i feel like an idiot! Can't picture what you are describing, but its great detailed explanation, will have to head out to the garage and see if it makes more sense when I can picture the shock and the layout of the adjustments on the bike based on your description.....and if someone throws up a DIY diagram, even better :-) Tks for the help guys, its needs to get slammed a bit to look right!

Dissociative Ok, took a couple of pics of the shocks on the bike....the nuts near the preload ring are backed off about 1/4 inch, but the nuts are about 9/16th from the eyelet, which looks like the diagram from progressive....still trying to match pic to your explanation?
